Parasite Preventative Options

Our Recommendations

We recommend vaccuuming once weekly or more under tables, entertainment stands, along baseboards, and all hard flooring, carpeting, ect. Place all bedding in the dryer and run on high heat. We do not recommend any flea collars, dips or other over the counter topical flea treatments, as they do not work well and may have adverse reactions in your pets. Below are list of preventatives in which we trust and have available through the clinic.

Heartworms are transmitted to dogs by mosquitos. They cause a slow progressive heart failure, and eventually death. Although generally curable, the treatment is expensive and involved. We recommended that your dog is on a monthly (year-round) heartworm preventative and be tested for heartworms every year, as recommended by The American Heartworm Society. Below are lists of preventives in which we trust and have available through the clinic.
